From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere feels lived-in and welcoming, the kind of place where regulars gather after work and newcomers instantly feel at ease. It’s not flashy or overdone; instead, it focuses on what matters most-good food, good drinks, and an unpretentious dining experience.

For something lighter but equally addictive, the Gobo Chips 青海苔揚げゴボウ deliver crisp texture and savory depth, making them perfect to enjoy alongside cocktails at the bar.

As the evening settles in, heartier options take center stage. The Ponzu Ribeye Steak is bold and satisfying, with a bright citrus note that cuts through the richness of the beef. Sushi lovers often gravitate toward the Battera Mackerel Sushi, which offers clean flavors and careful preparation that reflects the kitchen’s attention to detail. What customers say?

“ Very authentic looking Izakaya right in the middle of Torrance. Loved that the beer comes with frosted cold glasses and the atmosphere is super chill. Plates were a little pricey for the size, but everything was fresh and delicious. The wait staff was very attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. ”

“ Visited here in 2017, and had dreams over the years about how amazing the pork shabu/Ramen dish is. Back now in 2023 having visited Japan and eaten a couple dozen bowls of Ramen, and still this place is just as tasty as ever. All ingredients are super fresh, and the flavoring is just perfect. The place is nice too with a wood decorated facade, and the staff were attended helpful. ”

“ Met up with some friends at Hachi for dinner and this place definitely feels like a very traditional Japanese spot. The menu has a lot to offer and we went all out ordering a bunch of different things to share. The raw oysters were super fresh, pork belly was nicely grilled, and the scallops were on point. We also tried nigiri and sashimi — everything tasted clean and well-prepared. The snapper collar was a nice treat and the chicken karaage was crispy and juicy, perfect with a squeeze of lemon. One thing I noticed — they don’t even have a California roll on the menu. That’s when you know it’s the real deal, authentically Japanese. Service was friendly and the vibe is laid back, definitely a good spot for hanging out with friends over quality Japanese food. ”

“ Place a reservation in advance. Walk in and you will find a lively and cozy atmosphere. The price reflects the quality of the ingredients. I ordered a hot tea, but they have a whole menu of alcohol and non alcoholic options. Everything I had was unparalleled in terms of freshness and flavor. Tuna Avocado Tartare - the first dish out, very fresh and wonderfully plated. Shishito Mushrooms - the bonito flakes were still dancing! I would get this next time, the season on the mushrooms was very deep and savory. Sashimi plate - there is a minimum order of 2, but it was well worth it. Uni Wagyu - My favorite dish of the night! Beef Tongue - I got this based on other reviews recommendations, and it did not disappoint. Kimchi pork - while very good, not something I would re-order. Pumpkin Zenzai - leave space. The flavor is worth it. ”

“ The restaurant is not large, with compact seating, and only accepts reservations, no walk-ins. The service is very warm and the quality of the dishes is very high. I really liked it. Many dishes were so good that we ordered another portion after finishing the first. Delicious! ”

“ The food here tastes amazing. The “skewer” items are a very generous portion. Try the beef tongue. The meat is extremely tender and soft. The strip steak has a great sauce with it. The Kobe beef and uni sashimi is incredible. ”

“ Absolutely love the food here. When I come visit my family in LA they take us here, and I've yet to have a dish I didn't like. We always get the fried gobo, the jidori wings are really tasty, the beef tataki is some of the best I've had in the area. I tried a couple different things today the toro taku and the pressed analog, both were delicious and definitely something I'd get again. I wasn't too crazy about the Japanese potato salad with mentaiko, I feel like it needs a but more mayo. The karaage is also very tasty, and we also had some kaki fry which was very good and the crab croquettes are some of my favorite things to get here. Overall this is one of my top places, sometimes inconsistent and service can lag a bit, but it's never been much an issue to affect my review. ”
